Privacy policy

OlaHop is an internet radio app developed by Ivan Mihajlovic. It does not require an OlaHop account. The current app has no advertising or third-party analytics SDK.

Your library and listening history

Stations, favorites, collections, listening sessions, identified songs, and preferences are stored on your device. The app and its widgets share station and playback information through an on-device app group.

When iCloud is available, OlaHop syncs your station library, favorites, collections, ordering, and hidden stations through Apple’s iCloud key-value storage. Sync records include a generated device identifier and change timestamps to resolve edits. Listening history, recognized-song history, and audio preferences are not included in this library sync. Device backups may separately include app data according to your Apple settings.

Radio, search, and artwork

Playback connects directly to the station’s streaming provider. Station searches send your search text to Radio Browser servers. Song artwork searches send song metadata to Apple’s iTunes Search service; artwork is downloaded from the image providers. These services receive network information such as your IP address and requested resource. Their handling and retention of this information are governed by their own policies. Some stations use unencrypted HTTP streams.

Song recognition

When you request identification or enable automatic identification, OlaHop generates an acoustic signature from a short portion of the radio audio and sends it to Apple’s Shazam service. It does not use your microphone. Audio samples are processed temporarily in memory; OlaHop does not save a recording. Apple states that ShazamKit does not share the original audio with Apple and that signatures cannot be converted back to the recording. Automatic identification is off by default and can be turned off in the app.

Matches are stored locally for song and listening history. OlaHop does not add them to your Shazam library. Opening Apple Music or Shazam links takes you to those services.

Sharing and this website

A station link contains the station name and stream URL, including any URL query parameters. Anyone with the link can read them. Do not share a private stream link unless you intend the recipient to have access. Listening history and your collection of favorites are not included.

The station data is in the URL fragment, which is not sent in the initial website hosting request. Cloudflare hosts olahop.app and receives normal network request information. Legacy sharing pages may be hosted by GitHub Pages. This site uses no analytics scripts or advertising cookies. Playing a stream in your browser connects to its provider.

Your choices and deletion

You can delete station-library items in the app; library deletions sync when iCloud is available. Use Clear history to remove listening sessions and their songs. Previously saved songs are kept separately and must be removed separately. Turning off automatic identification stops future automatic recognition requests.

On-device data remains until you remove it or delete the app, subject to system backups and caches. Deleting the app does not itself guarantee removal of iCloud data or provider logs. Manage iCloud and backups through your Apple account settings. OlaHop does not operate a server that stores your listening history, and the developer cannot remotely retrieve or erase that local history.

Support and contact

If you contact support, the information you choose to send, including your email and message, will be used to respond and investigate your request. Do not include passwords, private stream tokens, or unnecessary personal information.

For support and privacy requests, contact office@olahop.app. Porkbun forwards messages to the developer’s Yahoo inbox; replies may come from that inbox. We retain support messages for up to 12 months after the request is resolved, except where needed to meet legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your support correspondence.
